By India Today Sports Desk: Punjab Kings fast-bowler Arshdeep Singh bowled a phenomenal last over and shattered the stumps of Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera to win the game for his side against Mumbai Indians. PBKS beat MI by 13 runs to move up to fifth place in the IPL 2023 points table.
With six wickets in hand and a set Tim David in the middle, MI needed 16 runs to win in the final over. The match seemed to be in MI’s favor. However, Arshdeep had different plans in his mind.

He started the over off by giving away a single and getting Varma on strike. He then bowled a full-length ball, which Varma tried to slog over mid-wicket but completely missed. The left-arm pacer then bowled a perfectly executed yorker to break Varma’s middle stump in two to pile the pressure on the hosts.
Next up was MI’s Impact Player Nehal Wadhera, but Arshdeep had the same treatment in store for him, shattering Wadhera’s middle stump in two with another perfect yorker. The 24-year-old bowled another dot ball in the penultimate ball of the game to Jofra Archer. Arshdeep then gave away a single in the final delivery of his over to seal a historic win for his side at the Wankhede.
Speaking after the game, Arshdeep said he changed his run-up before the IPL to avoid bowling no-balls, while adding that he is enjoying his cricket at the moment.
“Feels good whenever I take wickets, the win makes the feeling better. Before IPL, I changed my run-up and it helped me with avoiding no-balls. The rhythm is nice and I'm enjoying my cricket right now. Calmness comes naturally, my heart rate doesn't even go up to 120,” said Arshdeep.
Arshdeep finished the game with four wickets, while giving away just 29 runs in four overs. This performance also took Arshdeep to the top of the Purple Cap list, having claimed 13 wickets in the first seven matches in IPL 2023.
