MS Dhoni is the best T20 captain we have ever seen, says Tom Moody

By India Today Sports Desk: Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the greatest T20 captain the world has ever seen, feel Sanjay Manjrekar and Tom Moody. Speaking ahead of the Indian Premier League Final between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans, the former cricketers named their greatest captains in the last 50 years.

Speaking on ESPNcricinfo, Moody reckoned that hands down, Dhoni is the greatest T20 captain to ever grace the field.

"MS Dhoni hands down in my view is the best T20 captain we have ever seen. And he has shown examples of that this year. And if you are talking about Test cricket, I would not put MS Dhoni in that category," Moody said on ESPNcricinfo.

The former SRH coach said that he really admired Ben Stokes as a Test captain because of the impact that he had made in a very small time.

"I think there are other candidates, we have seen one recently, in Ben Stokes, who has had an enormous impact. And it is only a small sample size, but what he has done for England in the short period of time is quite a dramatic change the way the game is played," Moody further added.

Dhoni will be playing his 250th game in the Indian Premier League when he takes the field on Sunday against Gujarat Titans. Dhoni will stand the chance to win his record 5th IPL title with CSK. Former India player Sanjay Manjrekar agreed with Moody's views and said that no one could challenge Dhoni in the T20 format. But, in ODIs and in Tests, Manjrekar took the names of Arjuna Ranatunga, Kapil Dev and Steve Waugh.

'Let's not forget Arjuna Ranatunga's impact on Sri Lanka. Steve Waugh as a Test captain, Kapil Dev in 50-over cricket. Others are also there, but in T20 there is no one to challenge MS Dhoni," Manjrekar said during the chat.
