Don’t wanna be too predictable, says Devon Conway after match-winning 83 vs RCB

By India Today Sports Desk: Devon Conway was pretty happy with how he batted in Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Monday, April 17 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Conway won the Player of the Match award after he scored 83 runs off 45 balls with the help of six fours and as many sixes. The southpaw racked up his half-century off 32 deliveries, after which he played some more glorious shots.

But a deceptive slower ball from Harshal Patel accounted for his wicket. Conway said that he doesn’t want to be predictable in his shot-making.

“Been very happy with the way things went tonight. My recipe is simple: play good cricket shots. I don't want to be too predictable, so I will try to hit bowlers off their lengths,” Conway said in the post-match presentation ceremony.

On the back of Conway’s knock, the Super Kings posted a challenging target of 227 for the Challengers to chase down. In the end, CSK won the match by eight runs to secure their third win out of five matches of the season.

Conway also lauded the CSK supporters for their unconditional love and support over the last couple of years.

“It's my second year for CSK, the supporters are loyal. Makes it a lot better with MS in the team too,” Conway added.

The Super Kings are placed third in the table with six points and a net run rate of +0.265. They will next face the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 21.
